Gift, craft and art fairs abound in the Twin Cities. My favorites include Craftstravaganza in May and the Do It Green! Minnesota Green Gifts Fair in November. If you’re finding yourself in need of fun, unique gift idea with no fair in sight, then head to i like you in NE Minneapolis. There’s meter parking nearby, but I usually end up parking on 5th St SE just east of Central Ave when I go to NE.
I stopped in before meeting my friends Rachel (she’s a great follow on Instagram!) and Sara from SocialSara612 at Pizza Nea, and I grabbed some pics of a few of my favorite things there. To start, they have a wall of greeting cards for any occasion – apologies, same-sex weddings, flirting, just because. Muddy Mouth Cards makes fantastically inappropriate cards that always make me giggle.
I’m addicted to Minnesota Nice Spice’s amazing blends. I’ve bought them for myself, but they’re also perfect for birthday gifts, wedding presents, you name it.
If you own cats or have friends who have cats, then you need to check out Marvelous Melissa. The toys are made from upcycled materials, and every cat I know who’s received them has gone completely bonkers over them. I usually have to engage Gus in play, but he loves the MM mice. They also offer adorable gift sets which are purrfect for your crazy cat loving friends!
I like you carries a nice variety of candles, but if you have book-loving friends, I’ll point you in the direction of Frostbeard Studio. Take a whiff of Trashy Romance Novel or perhaps Sherlock’s Study. Other scents include Twue Wuv, Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey and many more.
The last company I’ll single out is Moss Love which makes kick ass terrariums and DIY kits. With as popular as Jurassic World is right now, consider the Dino kit, but I also love the Unicorn and Zombie kits. And if someone wants to get me the Groot & Rocket terrarium for my birthday in August, I will have no complaints. Or any of the Lord of the Rings terrariums.
I like you carries so much more than what I’ve highlighted already. They have kid and adult clothing and they’re prepared for winter already! There’s a lot of options if you want to spread some Minnesota love, from frames to artwork to buttons. If you haven’t heard of Adam Turman, I encourage you to check out his fabulous Twin Cities-inspired art work.
The pint glasses caught my eye, as did the magnets. I ended up buying a magnet each for Rachel and Sara as a fun surprise and they even do a cute, quick gift wrapping as you’ll see in the slideshow below. There’s a lovely beauty product display, which is dangerous because I love buying soap. Earrings by Wuve also stood out to me so I may be back to add some to my collection. I like you is one of those stores you should take at least two laps around because you’ll probably miss something the first time.
If you visit the Minnesota State Fair this year, make sure to say hello at the West End Market. What’s your go-to store for gift buying? And what’s your favorite Minnesota-based company? Please share in the comments!
