One Girl, Two Cities

October 2015 Preview

butterflyHappy autumn! Or is it fall? I think I go back and forth depending on how formal I’m feeling. Anyhow, there’s a lot on the schedule for October so let’s get down to it.

To kick off the month, my friend Derek Fawcett is coming to town! He’s a singer-songwriter from Chicago and he has a show at Driftwood Char Bar on Oct 1. Take a few minutes to watch his video below (Words That Fall Out is one of my favorite songs, and I love the adorable photos of him and his wife) then click here for more details about the show.

Social Media: In case you haven’t heard, I’m starting a Twin Cities focused twitter chat every Monday from 8-9pm called #TCTalk. I hope you’ll join in the conversation! Click here for more details. I joined a group called the Twin Cities Blogger Collective and the first social event is happening Oct 6. If you’re interested in learning about social communities in the Twin Cities, click here for an amazing list by Jenna Redfield. Last but not least, I’m attending Social Media Breakfast for the second time. The theme for Oct 23 is The Growing Impact of Social Media on Health & Fitness, and it’s taking place at the LifeTime Athletic Target Center. SMBs are an incredibly fun way to spend a Friday morning – come and join me!

Theatre: My theatre-going is fairly limited this month since I have a couple weekend road trips planned, but I’m confident the shows I’m seeing will be wonderful!

  1. The Spitfire Grill by Lyric Arts
  2. An Octoroom at Mixed Blood Theatre
  3. She Kills Monsters by Six Elements Theatre
  4. Pioneer Suite by Freshwater Theatre: Watch the video below then click here to purchase tickets.

Veg Fests: It’s veg fest season! Chris and I are headed to Chicago VeganMania the weekend of Oct 10. The following weekend we’ll hit up the FIRST EVER Fargo Moorhead VegFest. And finally, even though it’s not technically October but it’s close enough that it’s worth adding here… Twin Cities Veg Fest Nov 1! This will be my third year attending and it’ll be bigger and better than ever. These are fun, free events and you don’t need to be vegan or vegetarian to attend.

There you have it! What fun things do you have planned for October? Please share in the comments.

One Girl, Two Cities is up for an award! I’ve been nominated for Best Blogger on Minneapolis Happening’s Happening List and would love for you to vote for me. *CLICK HERE TO VOTE* Thank you!

Thanks for introducing me to Derek Fawcett. I need to hear more! That song was the sweetest. It brought up all of the feelings I have for my own husband. <3

Awww, I love that! And you’re welcome. Derek’s a great guy and a wonderful storyteller with his music. 🙂 You’ll probably like Kinda Like A Love Song I Guess, as well.
