Getting Social with the Twin Cities Blogger Collective

tcbc 4In July, Lindsey from The Curly Diaries started a group on Facebook called Twin Cities Blogger Collective, and the first official event took place at goGLOW in Edina on Oct 6. Lindsey’s mission is “to create, inspire, support & bring together like-minded bloggers in the Twin Cities.” As I’ve met more and more bloggers, I’ve really grown to the appreciate the value in these opportunities to network. Even if someone doesn’t write about the same things as I do, there’s a lot to learn from each other in the way we work and present our content to the world. We can also challenge ourselves to come up with collaboration opportunities.

I carpooled with my friend Kendra from Artfully Engaging, and we found Valerie from Kale and Ale soon after we parked. Kendra is a wonderfully fierce supporter of the arts and I love reading interviews with various artists on her blog, along with her social media & marketing advice. Valerie always seems to be out and about, and she writes about a fun mix of food, beer (even homebrewing!) and activities. Before long, we ran into Jenna, a social media marketer and videographer. She has a wide range of interests, and you can find everything she does on her website,

tcbc 5The thought of meeting a big group of new people scares me a little, so having these friends there from the get-go made me much more comfortable. The goGlOW space is gorgeous – so sleek and modern! Shop Frilloon provided beautiful, huge balloons, as seen in the photo above with Kendra, and also donated one as a prize. Farina Bakeshop provided all sorts of snacks, and we got to try out several flavors of Zula Juice. Zula is “Minnesota’s first organic-certified and fresh cold-pressed juice company” and the Cashew Dream is scrumptious.

The event was basically two hours of socializing, with a few breaks for the prize drawings, along with demos of goGLOW’s spray tanning which looks so natural, it’s impressive! Kati from Constantly Seeking Wonder and Sara from SocialSara612 attended as well, and I always enjoy spending time with them. Kati’s passion for music shines through loud and clear, and I basically love everything Sara writes about from her family adventures to her interest in minimalism and social media. I also had the pleasure of meeting Heather from Simply Save for the second time, and she’s helped me think about finances differently so I greatly appreciate her. Heather was recently a guest on the Think Enriched podcast – what a fun collaboration!

Other bloggers I met for the first time include Cali from Girl Meets Growler, Krista from HAPPy As We Know It, Sarah from Recreational Gardener and Kendall from casse-croûte. I love Cali’s interest in beer and her creativity in her posts, which range from reviews to beer fests to food pairings. Krista’s and Kendall’s are both lifestyle blogs with posts including anything from fashion to DIY to thoughts of the day. Since I’ve helped Chris with his garden a lot this year, it was especially fun to chat with Sarah to compare and contrast our yards. I love seeing how every blogger makes their website their own, and also seeing how their blogs translate to the real life person.

tcbc 1I’d call this first Twin Cities Blogger Collective event a complete success. Many connections were made, the turnout was awesome and I had so much fun. The cherry on top was the cute swag bag complete with some product samples and good deals at some local companies. I’m sure the next event will be even bigger and better! tcbc 7One Girl, Two Cities is up for an award! I’ve been nominated for Best Blogger on Minneapolis Happening’s Happening List and would love for you to vote for me. *CLICK HERE TO VOTE* Thank you!

You’re welcome! I didn’t meet everyone who was there, unfortunately, but hopefully next time. Hope you’ll be able to make it!

  1. Heather @ Simply Save

It was so great to see you again! I love these events and how there is such a broad variety of blog topics represented. It’s so fun! I used to get really overwhelmed at the idea of these big group things, but they’ve helped me come out of my shell a bit more. See you Wednesday!

It was a great event! Good eats, great conversation & a fun swag bag! I always love seeing you, too, especially when you give me your extra cookie (for my kids, I swear!). 🙂
